Role Overview

Netflix Animation Studios is seeking a Character FX Artist to design and produce high-quality hair, cloth, fur, and creature simulations for animated features. This role focuses on realistic and stylized effects while collaborating with multiple departments to enhance storytelling through animation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create hair, cloth, and fur simulation setups for animated characters.
  • Design procedural creature simulation rigs in Houdini following department standards.

  • Collaborate closely with other departments to create realistic and stylized effects.

  • Incorporate feedback from supervisors and directors to refine and improve work.

  • Participate in internal training to enhance CFX skills.


Qualifications

  • Experience with Houdini, Maya, or similar 3D animation/effects tools (Houdini Vellum preferred).
  • Understanding of physics-based simulations for hair, cloth, muscle, feathers, and other character effects.

  • Strong sense of timing, weight, and motion for realistic effects.

  • Ability to create both realistic and stylized effects per project requirements.

Compensation

Salary: CAD $80,000–$160,000 per year (reflects total compensation; no stock options)
Salary Type: Yearly
